WHAT IS COVID-19?

Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) is a respiratory illness that can spread from person to person. Current symptoms reported for patients with COVID-19 have included mild to severe respiratory illness with fever, cough, and difficulty breathing.

UNEMPLOYMENT

You may be eligible for unemployment benefits if your agency has cut your hours, laid you off, or closed entirely. You should apply immediately online here.

 
PAID LEAVE
  • If you are an HHA or PCA and have worked with your employer for at least 30 days, you are likely eligible to receive 100% of your regular wages for sick leave for up to 80 hours over the 14-day quarantine period.
  • If you have to be home to care for a family member who is sick or quarantined and you are an HHA/PCA that has worked with your employer for at least 30 days, you may be eligible for at least two weeks of partially paid leave.
 
RIGHTS DURING THE CRISIS
  • There is a 90-day eviction moratorium, if you are unable to pay rent you WILL NOT get evicted.
  • New York has enacted a 90-day mortgage relief period for the state’s homeowners.
  • Utility companies - gas, water, and electric - have agreed to suspend utility shut offs. Utilities will not be shut off if you cannot pay.
